How to propagate Bear Paw a.k.a Cotyledon Tomentosa

A lot of you have this misunderstanding that Bear Paw could be propagated using single leaf, which is the case for most succulent but NOT for this specific species 🥲 If you have a fallen Bear Paw leaf, it is not gonna turn into a Bear Paw baby unfortunately…

Propagation of Bear Paw will only succeed when there’s at least a COMPLETE node joining leaf and stem. Hence it is always easy to propagate Bear Paw using cutting method (or also named as stem propagation). However, if you wish to propagate more babies at one go, you can try out the leaf propagation method by keeping a portion of stem intact with the leaf.

To make it easier for you to understand, we’ve drawn an illustration at the last pic to show you how to cut Bear Paw for propagation😊 Follow the 3 red cutting lines, you shall be able to get:
1. Top beheaded cutting with at least one set of leaves
2. Two leaf cuttings with a portion of stem intact

After cutting, let dry 1-2 days before planting them into soil again. Voilà! Just some tricks in propagating Bear Paw and you will have a much higher successful rate for more Bear Paw babies😉
