I believe a lot of you have seen nice terrarium designs out there incorporating moss as the layer on top of soil... If you've been following us long enough and if you are familiar with succulent plant you will realize we never do that to succulents🚫
When we are putting plants together we must always consider the different needs of different plants. Succulents prefer the environment to be windy and dry, hence ventilation and great soil aeration is very important to keep succulents healthy, whereas moss prefer humid environment with soil that is moist all the time. Even if you're keeping the water in control and just nice for both type of plants, when we are having moss on top of soil the moisture in moss will likely cause rotting of succulents stem and limit aeration into soil that will eventually cause rotting of roots too. There's no reason at all to put plants that are having opposite requirements together.
Some designs they even have dry flower in the terrarium which is another big NONO! Succulents are live plants and need to be watered regularly (and in control when you have them in terrarium without drainage hole), having dry flower or preserved flower in the terrarium encourages growth of mold and other pests that you don't want them to be near to succulents at all.
But... What to do if I already have those elements that you mentioned above in the succulent terrarium? REMOVE THEM IMMEDIATELY! Repot the succulents and moss separately, and keep your dry flower in a dry vase as decoration only. There you will have indoor deco piece and some live plants that will not give up on you, if you're not giving up on them 😅
